2011 Erzurum Winter Universiade - Men's Hockey Update

The Classification Games are completed and the Quarterfinal games have dropped the puck (Canada is up 3-0 over Slovakia right now!).

Biggest news so far today is that Turkey finally scored a goal! Yes, that is correct, the Turkish men's hockey team finished the tournament with 71 goals against and 1 goal for. And who scored the goal for them? None other than a Canadian! Emre Elevli was born in Ottawa, Ontario and has Turkish parents. He doesn't play university hockey in Canada, but according to the website he attends St. Paul University in Ottawa. Congrats to Emre.

Turkey however finished last in the tournament losing 11-1 to Slovenia today.

In the other Classification Game between Korea and Spain, Spain won in a shootout 5-4. Shots were very close in this game with Korea barely out shooting Spain 36 to 35.

Kazakhstan and Japan just started their game with Kazakhstan jumping out to an early lead, 1-0.

USA meets Belarus and the Russians and the Czech's battle out in the remaining semi-final games today.
