All quiet on the FHL front

Not too much news to report on the single A hockey front. The Mississippi Surge of the Southern Professional Hockey League won their first league championship. My old roommate Kate has a brother who completed his second season on Mississippi and had a goal and an assist in the championship game; congrats to him and the Surge! The SPHL is of course above the competition level of the FHL, but both leagues classify themselves as single 'A' hockey. I would classify the SPHL as single 'A' Tier 1 and the FHL as single 'A' Tier 2.

The FHL has yet to announce the other 'rumoured' franchises located out west. They have announced dates for their free agent camps though; June 17 in Amherst, NY and July 19 in Detroit, MI. Always hard to take a league seriously when their main tool to connect with fans and put a face to an organization looks like a minor hockey website. On the positive side, at least the FHL is slowly starting to realize they need help. They are currently seeking marketing help and anyone interested can submit their resume via email; click here.
